I visited the Humboldt Forum this weekend and was stunned by the culture artifacts in the exhibition. Particular the masks caught my eye. They were used for initiation rites and other collective events. They got me thinking..

What specific human conditions can be found that AI never will understand and therefor utilize?
I am thinkin about a series of santiy checks to remember what makes us human. And why artificial intelligence cannot meaningfully produce them. (until today)
Thinking about intelligence
Some people speak of AI as something that is intelligent. But they might determine human intelligence wrong. Simply because of some important factors:
- awareness of death
- dealing with uncontrollable forces (nature, illness, social conflict)
- limited understanding of causality (historically [that might contradict intelligence as we currently discuss it in a narrow sense])

The question is not whether artificial intelligence will ever create ritual. The question is whether humans, surrounded by increasingly capable systems, will still recognize why ritual existed in the first place.
